Stays abroad help doctoral candidates to network internationally, acquire intercultural skills and prepare for the globalised labour market. Business enterprises increasingly expect applicants to have international experience.
Our Graduate School encourages all doctoral candidates to integrate a temporary stay abroad into their research period at HM and to participate in international conferences.
Various funding formats are available for this purpose, offering financial support depending on the type of stay.
Erasmus+ supports stays at higher education institutions abroad. You can spend two to seven working days at an Erasmus+ partner university in another European country.
There are two formats:
(1) Erasmus+ Teaching (STA)
This programme enables you to teach at an Erasmus+ partner university in another European country.

(2) Erasmus+ Training (STT)

Both programmes also allow for blended mobility, a combination of physical mobility and a virtual phase that takes place before, during or after the physical mobility. However, no financial support is available for the virtual phase.
