Federal and state funding programs
The funding programs of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the research funding of the federal and state governments represent the main sources of national and regional research funding. At HM, this ranges from innovation funding for small and medium-sized enterprises to research collaborations with global players. The often transdisciplinary projects fulfill the criteria of scientifically sophisticated research in equal measure as they find their direct applicability in practice.

International research
If you are interested in submitting an application for funding programs with a European and international dimension, you are welcome to make use of the extensive range of services offered by the Science Support Center.
Horizon Europe (2021 - 2027) The current EU framework program for the period 2021 to 2027 is the ninth of the EU research framework programs and the successor program to Horizon2020. Horizon Europe focuses on collaborative research in the areas of Health, Societal Change, Civil Security, Environment, Transport and Digital Transformation.
An important step to get an insight into the Horizon Europe evaluation process is to become an evaluator yourself. The EU is constantly looking for evaluators for all subject areas and funding lines.

Commissioned research
An essential basis for the excellent interaction between science and industry is the practical experience of the professors, which they have acquired before their appointment in the course of at least five years of non-university professional activity. The aim of commissioned research is to gain new insights in a methodical, systematic and verifiable manner, leading to an expansion of the body of knowledge.
Foundations
A large number of foundations are involved in the promotion of research throughout Germany. In many cases, the selection or acceptance of applications is subject to the objectives and statutes of the respective foundations. The possible funding includes either the financing of research projects or of personnel. For example, so-called endowed professorships or positions for scientific personnel, usually doctoral positions, are established. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
