Incoming Exchange Students
HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences partners with over 200 universities and welcomes a large number of exchange students each semester.
Here, students from partner institutions can access all essential information on applying to and studying at HM.

Application
Partner universities officially need to nominate their exchange students prior to the student's application. Nomination is done by an exchange coordinator via Email to international-office@hm.edu.
Please provide the following information or use our Excel Sheet:
- Family name and First name
- Email student
- Level (BA/ MA)
- Start semester
- Duration (1 or 2 Semester)
- Nationality
- Home Department
- Study area at home university (Erasmus+ only: with ISCED code)
- Desired field of study at HM

Hochschule München does not require confirmation of German language proficiency from exchange students. However, students planning to attend courses in German should have a minimum of CEFR level B2 to follow the classes effectively. | Hochschule München does not require confirmation of English language proficiency. However, exchange students must have language skills equivalent to at least CEFR level B2. We expect our partner universities to ensure that students meet these requirements. |

1. | Selected students must be nominated by their home institution via email before starting the application process at HM. Your coordinator needs to send the nominations to the International Office or directly to the responsible coordinator in the International Office. The nomination deadlines are: Winter semester: 1 May Summer semester: 1 November |
2. | Please use our Online Application System to apply for one or two exchange semesters at Hochschule München. The link to the Online Application System (Application form A) can be found in the section "Application Documents". |
3. | Submit your signed and scanned Application Form A via email as a single PDF-File (max. 5 MB) to the International Office . Design students may submit their Portfolio separately. The application deadlines are: Winter semester: 15 May Summer semester: 15 November |
After your Application You will not receive immediate confirmation of your application’s arrival. If your application is submitted more than two weeks before the deadline, we may review and confirm receipt. Applications submitted close to the deadline will be processed afterward. Letters of acceptance will be sent within one month after the deadline. The countersigned Learning Agreement will be emailed to you following the application deadline. If you need to withdraw from the exchange programme, please inform the International Office immediately. |

Learning Agreement before studies (for Erasmus+ students) | We only accept Online Learning Agreements (OLAs). Course selection
Course selection
Course selection and registration generally take place after your arrival in Munich. If you need to prepare a Learning Agreement or Study Plan in advance, you can refer to lecture timetables from the previous semester or seek advice from your departmental coordinator at HM. The Learning Agreement can be adjusted once you arrive. Additional details are available in the "Application Documents" section.
Exchange students at HM can enrol in courses from various departments, regardless of their field of study, provided they meet the prerequisites and spaces are available.
Thesis: Please note that writing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or final thesis under HM supervision is not possible during a one-semester stay.
Depending on your chosen courses, you may also qualify for additional certificates.
