Application Bachelor for international students - German programs
Application period
Winter semester: 02.05. – 31.07.
Exception: Design and Architecture, deadline 15.06., (Portfolio for Design 31.05)
Summer semester: 15.11. – 15.01. for all degree programmes on offer (not all programs available in summer semester)
To that deadline all certificates are to be submitted to HM. The pre-check through uni-assist or the APS has to be done earlier.
Start early!
Please make sure that you prepare your application early enough!
Getting certified copies or translations of documents or sitting German language tests may take some time. In addition, the preliminary review documentation (VPD) can take 6-8 weeks.
Please understand that we can only accept applications submitted within the application period and with complete documentation!
If your certificates (school, university) were not acquired in Germany, they have to be reviewed by uni-assist or APS (ONLY for applicants from China, India and Vietnam).
Uni-assist e.V. checks if you can study directly at a German university or if you have to attend a foundation course (Studienkolleg) first. They also convert your average grade to the German grading system.

1) The completed online application form from uni-assist (only online). Please use the "Bachelor-All Subjects" option and do not name any specific course.
2) A scanned copy of your school report and possibly your academic achievements.
3) An officially certified translation of your certificates into German or English.
4) A scanned copy of your passport or ID. (if necessary, certificate of name change, not notarized).
5) A complete CV / resume. Have a look at our sample German CV.
All documents must be uploaded to the uni-assist portal. It is not necessary to send it in by post.
Please also refer to the special information on certain countriesthat uni-assist provide.
An evaluation of your certificates takes 6-8 weeks. uni-assist charge an administration fee of € 75 for their services. The pre-check will only start once payment is received. Please remember to pay and submit everything on time.
Hochschule München enables a pure online application for the VPD application. You can easily submit your documents online.
You will receive a VPD (preliminary examination documentation) via the uni assist portal, which you will need to apply to Hochschule München.
If you have already successfully completed a state Studienkolleg, then apply directly to Hochschule München with your FSP certificate. You do not need a VPD-notification from uni-assist.
All applicants for Bachelor degree programmes with restricted admissions have to enter personal BID (applicant-ID) and BAN (applicant authentication number) in addition to our standard requested documents in our online portal.
This is not necessary for degrees with open access.

Please register with hochschulstart.de (for registration) in order to receive the personal BID (applicant-ID) and BAN (applicant authentication number). Please remember that you also have to submit your application directly to Hochschule München in due form and time in our online portal.

You can apply to HM directly. Application documents: 1. Apply for each course in our online portal of HM (maximum 5 degree courses) 2. What is a Studienkolleg? It is a foundation course for international students in Germany. All the Bachelor's and most of the Master's degrees are taught in German. Therefore you need advanced knowledge of the German language (Level B2 or C1). A language certificate is to be submitted at enrolment at the latest. An enrolment without proof of German language skills is not possible.
An entrance qualification test and a portfolio is required only for the degrees in Architecture; Design; Informatik und Design .

For all other courses the study places are allocated according to grades (restricted access) or with open access.

You will receive your letter of admission through our application platform
- for the winter semester around mid-August,
- for the summer semester around the beginning of February.
