Teilnehmende der Summer School
Huda (Iraq – American University of Iraq-Sulaimani)
I graduated in Energy Engineering almost 10 years ago, and when I saw this programme, I thought –why not go for it? It’s one of the best universities.
The language and culture courses were so interesting, interactive and focused on things that were actually useful during this month. And the energy course was great: very intensive, despite the short time frame. The professors are so knowledgeable, very professional and friendly at the same time. And the students – I couldn’t have asked for a better group. They were from different backgrounds, but we all got along so well.
Munich is a perfect place for a summer school. The weather was lovely, the city is relatively small, but there is so much to explore.

I absolutely loved my time here, both with the professors and the other students. Everything was well organised. I was really grateful to have such mentors – whenever I had any questions, their explanations were clear and helpful.
The social activity that stood out most to me was the visit to the BMW Museum. Growing up, I loved watching cars, and BMW is one of the top brands in the world. Seeing all that history, culture and tradition in one place was a surreal moment for me.
I had this wonderful chance to spend this summer in Munich, and I’d love to come back.
Saksham (UK – University of Greenwich)
It was my first time taking part in a summer school. So when I saw the “Engineering for Sustainability” programme, I was really excited. I chose modules on smart vehicles, a start-up launch pad, and courses on German language and culture.
I loved the overall atmosphere: I got to meet so many new people from all over the world. The professors were so nice and helpful, and they made the classes very interactive.
The trips and social events were amazing, especially the BMW Museum and the Deutsches Museum. It was fascinating to see how science and technology have evolved over time.
And Munich is a great city. I loved the people, I loved the atmosphere –especially the beer gardens and the way people live their lives here. I’d love to come back.

I really liked the course on the potential of renewable energies. It was incredibly informative. I had two different professors, each with their unique approaches, which made it all the more interesting.
My favourite trip was to Chiemsee, but the BMW Museum was also great. The visit to the MAN Factory was awesome, seeing the production line and all that. And I was with a bunch of people that were a lot of fun. All in all, I’d say this summer school was absolutely worth it.

I discovered the summer school “Engineering for Sustainability” on the university’s website. Since I’m studying AI, I wanted to explore how technology can contribute to sustainable solutions. The programme offered unique courses, including the ones that I chose – on smart vehicles and a start-up launchpad.
Everything was very well organised; we had a timetable in advance with all the classes and activities. There were no issues, everything ran smoothly. The professors were very friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Whenever I had a question or doubt, they would answer it within minutes.
Munich has a lot of students, many different restaurants, and it's affordable. Public transport is excellent, too. I think it’s a great city.

My favourite part of Munich is spending time at the Biergartens with the new friends I made. Definitely can't beat the Thursday deal for the giant Wiener Schnitzels at Andys Krablergarten!

By all measures, Munich is a fantastic city to study engineering in; its proximity to such giants as BMW and Siemens is reflected in the overwhelmingly diverse technical backgrounds of the university's staff, and the city itself is a beautiful place to be in the summer. Its people are extremely warm hosts, eager to share their culture and language. And, without a doubt, the English Garden must be the best public park in the EU.
