Health insurance
To enrol at the university and/or apply for a residence permit, exchange students must have sufficient health insurance, either statutory or private.
Please note that travel health insurance does not meet this requirement.

If you plan to leave Germany before the official end of the semester, it is advisable to cancel your health insurance to avoid unnecessary payments.s.
1. Deregister at HM:
- Download the "Exmatrikulationsantrag" form via PRIMUSS Online-Services Applications and Messages.
- Here you can find a manual on how to apply for the "Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung".
2. Send a letter of cancellation to the health insurance company including:
- Your date of departure
- The country to which you are returning
- How long your German bank account will remain active
- A copy of your "Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung"
This process ensures your insurance and associated payments are appropriately terminated.
