Student ID card
The student ID card offers you a range of functions that you should use during your time studying at Hochschule München. You will receive your personalised student ID card during the second Orientation Day.
Functions of the Student ID Card
- User ID for the library
- Access to buildings, laboratories and computer rooms
- Payment in university’s cafeterias
- Login for online services (e.g. exam registration)
- Identification during examinations
Paying with the Student ID Card
You can use your student ID card to pay in the cafeterias by loading money onto the ID card. You can do this at various loading stations located in the university buildings. ID cards can be loaded using cash (notes only) or current bank account cards (German accounts only).
"Validating" the Student ID Card
Following successful re-registration, the validity period of the ID is reprinted on the card using a special machine. Cards can be validated (extension of the validity period on the ID card) on the machines approximately one week before the semester starts. Validation machines can be found in the following buildings:
Campus Lothstraße
Lothstr. 34 Building A, hallway on the ground floor (opposite room A 23)
Lothstr. 64 Building R, in the left center of the entrance area
Campus Karlstraße
Karlstr. 6 Building B, main entrance near the elevator
Campus Pasing
Am Stadtpark 20, next to the self-service terminal near the Cafeteria or at the entrance Avenariusstr.
Losing the Student ID Card
To prevent misuse of the student ID card you have to inform the following offices:
- Studierendenservice (student services) via Email to st-service@hm.edu with following information: name, first name, birth date, study programme, Matrikelnummer
- The library (Bibliothek ) personally during office hours
To get a new student ID card:
- New student ID cards are issued every by appointment in room A30 in Lothstraße 34. A new student ID card costs 10 Euros.
Please note: According to § 5 Abs. 4 Satz 3 u. 4 ABOB you are liable for all damages resulting by a delayed notice of loss.
Example: A person that found your student ID card borrows books from the library and does not return them. The costs for the books are charged to your account.
Losing the PIC
If you have lost your PIC you must apply for a new one at the IT services using the form "PIC-Neuvergabe-Formblatt". A new PIC will then be sent to you.
Getting money back
If you are leaving Munich and would like to withdraw the remaining money from your student ID card, please go to the Information Point of Studentenwerk (ground floor in the cafeteria, Lothstr. 13d)).
The Infopoint is open every week day between 11 am until 1 pm.
