Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK)
The partnership between HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences and Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK)was established in 2013. Since then, the relationship between the two universities has continued to grow, with increasing exchanges of students, faculty, researchers, and administrative staff. These exchanges foster enduring academic and personal connections in both directions.
The strategic partnership between the two universities focuses on the following key objectives:
• Ensuring the quality and continuity of the cooperation
• Strengthening the international profile and attractiveness of both universities
• Creating synergies and pooling resources
• Increasing the number of participating departments
• Developing new joint initiatives in research, teaching and continuing education
The strategic partnership focuses its activities and initiatives on the following key areas:
• Continuing and expanding student, faculty, and staff exchanges in both directions
• Developing joint study programmes, such as double degrees
• Implementing collaborative teaching, learning, and research initiatives
• Facilitating university-wide cooperation and exchanges on administrative and organisational structures.
Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) currently has about 13,000 students, comparable in size to HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences, which has approximately 18,500 students. Both institutions prioritise fostering learning and creativity through a broad range of practice-oriented degree programmes. Like HM, TAMK has a strong technical focus while also placing equal emphasis on health, society, and business in its academic offerings.
In 2010, TAMK merged with Pirkanmaa Polytechnic (PIRAMK) to form one of Finland’s largest multidisciplinary universities of applied sciences. Today, TAMK is known not only for its diverse and multidisciplinary programs but also for integrating expertise from various fields across all educational and development projects. TAMK also maintains close collaboration with Tampere University.
Located in Tampere, one of the largest cities in Finland's Pirkanmaa region with over 241,000 residents, TAMK stands at the heart of this vibrant urban centre. Often called the "Manchester of the North" due to its dynamic and innovative industries, Tampere is home to TAMK’s campuses in the city centre, Hervanta, and Kauppi, with additional facilities in the surrounding region and in the cities of Pori and Seinäjoki.
