Funding opportunities – travel allowance

• studies at a non-partner university (free mover) in another EU country
• studies at a non-partner university (free mover) in a non-EU country
• studies at a partner university in a non-EU country (only if no PROMOS application has been submitted or if the application was unsuccessful)
• compulsory internship or voluntary internship in another EU country (only if Erasmus+ funding is not available)
• compulsory or voluntary internship in a non-EU country
• Summer Schools / Winter Schools at a partner university (minimum 2 weeks)
• research or fieldwork for the final assignment (worldwide)
• writing a final assignment (worldwide)

Type of funding

• one-off travel allowance (depending on income and country):
  – internships: up to a maximum of €1,000
  – other stays: currently up to a maximum of €700

Combinability with HM-external funding

• BAföG for studying abroad

• You are a fully registered student at HM.
• You have an average annual income (including maintenance from parents) of no more than €15,000 prior to the stay.
• For internship/final assignment: remuneration is less than €1,000 per month
• For studies/research/fieldwork: a study-related stay abroad of at least 3 weeks
• Travel allowance is NOT available in addition to PROMOS, Erasmus+ or the HAW.international DAAD scholarship.

During the online application process, you will need to upload the following documents:

• current enrolment certificate (PDF format)
• proof of your stay in PDF format (for internships: internship contract; for final assignments: contract with the company; for research: confirmation from the host institution, if applicable; for studies: Letter of Acceptance)

You can apply online for a travel allowance at any time, but please apply at least two weeks before your departure.

Travel allowances are awarded subject to the availability of funds.
