Lecturers about us
“The digital exams supported by KDP have made my exams more efficient. I am impressed by the focus on competence and the improved readability of the free-text answers, as well as the (partially) automated marking. The provision of computer rooms, including on-site technical support, has been particularly helpful, as it has always given me the confidence that exams would run smoothly. I have also received largely very positive feedback from students regarding this fair, transparent and modern exam experience.”
“I have been using EXaHM, or rather its predecessor, consistently since 2015 for my digital exams, for simulation and modelling purposes. Apart from a few minor issues, everything has actually always worked smoothly. I particularly appreciated the fact that the EXaHM team has been responsive to feedback and user requirements throughout this time. Much of this has been addressed over time. As a result, it has become a practical system for lecturers, by lecturers.”
"The first 'live' exams have been successfully held in our Department using EXaHM.You wouldn’t believe how relieved I am – a long-held wish has finally come true. At last, we can develop and test software on the computer and find bugs using a debugger! I would like to thank you all very, very much for helping us take this huge step! You have all played a key role in this great success; you have applied your considerable professional competence and immense dedication, which is why everything went so well."

FAQ
Digital exams
- are exams in which the computer is used as a tool for inputting data and finding solutions
- take place in a secure technical environment
- are also backed up by traditional supervision
Depending on the type of exam, digital exams offer the following advantages:
- Increasing the focus on skills in application-oriented examinations (educational potential)
- Free-form text is easier for lecturers to read. This makes it easier to present long texts to students in particular.
- More efficient marking of multiple-choice tests through (partially) automated marking
- Objective and fair assessment through automated marking (to the benefit of students)
- Exams can be further improved through the electronic analysis of question performance and results (quality development)
- Lecturers can make use of question banks
You can set assignments in software tools and test questions in your exam course on the Moodle exam server (ranging from multiple-choice and drag-and-drop to free-text questions).
Yes, all the framework conditions for digital examinations at Munich University of Applied Sciences have already been approved by the Legal Department.
All examination systems used at Hochschule München (EXaHM, the Moodle exam server, and Campla) provide multiple layers of security for exams and ensure a high degree of reliability for digital exams. In the event of a technical issue, it is always possible to continue the exam with an extension or on alternative devices. Saved files are retained in the process. However, an exam can never be 100% secure – this applies to both digital and handwritten exams.
Please contact us by the middle of the semester preceding the examination period at kdp@hm.edu .
Exams in the summer term (July): please register by 15 November

As with handwritten exams, the examiner will mark the exam on site at Hochschule München, usually using the software in which the exam was conducted.
Moodle: You can mark a Moodle exam via your browser in your Moodle exam course. Depending on the question type, automatic marking may be available.
EXaHM: You will now receive a ZIP file. Inside, you will find an Excel list of participants and all the relevant files. You should normally correct these using the software in which the exam was conducted.
Rooms T3.015, T3.016, T3.017 and T3.023 (each with 30 seats) in the T Building are currently available for digital exams.
In principle, it is possible to sit exams in HM faculty rooms. Please contact us (kdp@hm.edu) to clarify the requirements for this.
Throughout the semester: You book the room yourself, either through your department or in the T-Building via anny.
Final note: Examination coordinators book the room as part of the examination planning process, either at your department or in the T-Building via anny.
