Energy management at HM
Energy efficiency is a key component of Hochschule München’s (HM) sustainabilitystrategy . Alongside teaching and research, HM is also actively committed to the responsible use of energy in the operation of its own buildings. Energy management helps to record energy consumption transparently and to continuously improve it. Energy management is structurally embedded within the ‘Operations’ area of the strategic cross-cutting theme of sustainability at HM.
Energy management system
HM is currently working on the introduction of an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001 (EnMS). Certification is planned for 2026. The aim is to systematically monitor HM’s energy consumption, identify potential savings and optimise energy use in a sustainable manner. Through this certification, HM aims to further expand its contribution to climate protection and use resources more efficiently. The energy management system will cover all sites and relevant processes. Students and staff members are to be actively involved in its implementation. An energy team has been set up to implement the EnMS.
HM’s energy policy
The University Management, represented by the Chancellor, Jörg Finger, has established HM’s energypolicy and is committed to adhering to it. It forms the basis of a certified energy management system and sets out the objectives, scope and fundamental principlesof the energy policy.
