HM’s sustainability strategy
Hochschule München has drawn up its first sustainability strategy. To this end, discussions were held, ideas were exchanged, input was gathered and reflections were made with a wide range of stakeholders across the areas of research, teaching, transfers, operations, governance and student engagement. Based on this, objectives and measures were developed for Hochschule München, where sustainability is not just a buzzword, but is to be lived out and experienced throughout the entire institution.
The sustainability strategy is embedded in the university development plan and was adopted in spring 2023.
As part of the strategic process, sustainability is being embedded as an whole institution approach across the following areas of activity: teaching, transfers, research, operations, governance and student engagement. To this end, the following guiding principles have been established for these areas of activity:
Teaching
We empower our students to act competently and responsibly in environmental, socio-cultural and economic contexts.
research
Through our research activities, we are helping to shape a world worth living in.
transfers
To promote sustainable development, we engage in a two-way dialogue with society, business and politics.
Operation
We create the conditions for sustainable university operations, through which we set an example of responsible treatment of people and nature.
Governance
As an institution we are guided by a holistic understanding of sustainability in all areas of our work and in all our decisions.
Student involvement
We encourage active student participation in the sustainable development of the HM.
