CENERGIE – Research Center for Energy-Efficient Buildings and Districts

CENERGIE develops comprehensive solutions for future buildings in the context of the energy transition. On the one hand, the focus is on researching and developing new engineering tools for planning and forward-looking operational management strategies. At the same time, pilot and development projects in the field of heating, cooling, and electricity generation and storage are being driven forward. These projects are based on sustainable and efficient architectural concepts.

Institute for Applications of Machine Learning and Intelligent Systems (IAMLIS)

Through the IAMLIS research institute, Hochschule München brings together methodological and professional competence from several departments in the fields of machine learning and intelligent systems. The academic staff are driving the development of core AI competencies and supporting research and technology transfer.

Institute for Material and Building Research (IMB)

The Institute for Material and Building Research represents the departments of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Its focus is on the long-term preservation and sustainable development of the building and infrastructure stock. Future research topics include, amongst other things, the service life of materials, structures and buildings, resource efficiency and life-cycle assessments, as well as reliability and safety.

IMM investigates application-oriented and sustainable mobility and the technology of the future. Guided by the motto ‘Life in Motion’, this interdisciplinary institute adopts a holistic approach that brings together technology, design and people. Future research topics include, among other things, autonomous mobility and reliability through intelligent systems.

Institute for Sustainable Energy Systems (ISES)

Through its own research, consultancy and teaching activities, ISES makes a significant contribution to a more efficient, sustainable and resource-efficient energy supply and use. The focus is on research into electrical energy conversion, distribution and storage.

Society, Health and Education Research Center (SHE:RC)

SHE:RC aims to identify the underlying mechanisms of social change and their implications at an early stage, and to help ensure positive outcomes. It seeks to analyse, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the future challenges facing the social, health and education systems in the long term. Specific areas of research include resource scarcity, over-indebtedness and sustainability, skills shortages, discrimination and resilience.
