Genuine knowledge transfer requires new forms of collaboration. At HM:UniverCity, we focus on co-creation and the resulting living labs to bring together academia and practice in a dynamic process.

Current projects

Creating NEBourhoods Together

The EU flagship project “Creating NEBourhoods Together” demonstrates how Neuperlach is becoming a place of the future through co-creation. The project followed the guiding principles of the New European Bauhaus – Beautiful, Sustainable, Together – and contributed to the implementation of the EU Green Deal. The project was funded by Horizon Europe.

Wolfratshausen Museum Transformation Laboratory

With funding from the Stifterverband, the Wolfratshausen Museum became a centre for co-creative urban development: under the guidance of HM:UniverCity, local residents worked together to develop innovative concepts for an inclusive and sustainable town centre – bringing together different generations and situated at the heart of the region.

Dialogue forums on environmental sustainability

Once a year, HM:UniverCity and the Munich Re Foundation host a dialogue forum at University of Applied Science Munich. The focus is on the pressing issues of our time – with a particular emphasis on environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

CCD2.0 – Climate City Dash

With funding from Horizon Europe, HM:UniverCity and UnternehmerTUM are working with the City of Munich to test digital greenhouse gas monitoring software as part of a co-creative process involving civil society and businesses. The Climate City Dashboard 2.0 highlights existing measures, initiates new ones and thus supports Munich’s path to climate neutrality by 2035.

Transferre – Sectoral research as drivers of Transformation

The pilot project run by the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Tourism is exploring new approaches to participatory knowledge transfer. In cooperation with the Department of Technical Systems, Processes and Communication and Fraunhofer CeRRI, HM:UniverCity is developing new transfer strategies for research at the interface with society through a co-creative process involving the ministry’s research institutions.

The MeetUp initiative, organised by HM:UniverCity and the Research Centre at University of Applied Science Munich, brings together academia and industry to forge partnerships and develop ideas for research that has a positive impact on society.
