MeetUp – The platform for research-driven transfers

HM:UniverCity, Hochschule München’s innovation network, has launched a forward-looking event format in collaboration with the Science Support Center: MeetUp – Since 2022, this series of events has provided a platform where academia and industry come together specifically to develop joint research perspectives.

Our aim is to bring together professors, research staff members and practice partners in order to link research expertise directly with current needs. Interdisciplinary exchange gives rise to synergies and innovative ideas, which serve as the basis for forward-looking research projects.

The thematic focus of the MeetUps is based on relevant issues for the future, derived, amongst other things, from the 2021 coalition agreement. In 2023, a total of five MeetUps were organised on the topics of gendered innovation, environmental technologies, XR technologies and health. So far in 2024, the focus has been on social innovation, recycling in the construction sector and tourism.

As well as facilitating academic discussion, MeetUp@HM also serves as an opportunity to start preparing early for upcoming research funding opportunities and calls for proposals. Participants gain valuable insights, make new contacts and lay the foundations for joint projects.

On 10 July 2024, an exciting meet-up on the topic of sustainable tourism in the Oberland and Munich took place at the Munich Urban Colab.

The focus was on innovative projects and collaborative approaches to the sustainable development of tourism regions. Local authorities and towns in the Oberland have been working together with Hochschule München to find solutions that will make the region fit for the future.
