Our team comprises members from a range of disciplines, including the humanities, cultural studies, economics and design. We draw on our diverse expertise and perspectives to collaboratively design and test new forms of knowledge transfer through dialogue with others. With passion, curiosity and an open mind, we create spaces for collaboration and foster the development of solutions for the future.

The team

Dr Nicola Sennewald – strategist, enabler and the heart and soul of HM:UniverCity.

In her role as manager, Nicola not only gets projects off the ground, but also contributes to their strategic planning from start to finish. She is responsible for securing funding for new projects, puts together the teams and keeps track of everything, whilst remaining closely involved with the projects.

Anna-Lena – one of the creative minds behind our co-creation projects!

As Co-Creation Manager at HM:UniverCity, Anna-Lena develops innovative formats and methods that bring people from different fields together. Her aim is to organise collaboration efficiently and ensure that the right ideas and resources come together to create sustainable solutions.

Jana – an indispensable colleague who not only embodies teamwork but also helps to shape it.

For her, teamwork means more than just working together – it’s an opportunity to discover new perspectives and grow together. It’s particularly rewarding to see how projects can foster a real sense of community. Every voice counts, and Jana

is committed to ensuring that the voices of those who are often overlooked are also heard.

Michael – the creative bridge-builder.

Michael is a driving force behind HM:UniverCity and has helped shape the project from the very beginning. For him, genuine innovation arises from collaboration between various sectors of society – including civil society and academia – as well as the exchange of knowledge and experience.

Paju – an indispensable member of our team who embodies the magic of co-creation every day.

For her, working in a diverse team is far more than just inspiring: it is a source of endless motivation to discover new perspectives and think outside the box. Every project and every exchange offers Paju the chance to grow together with others. She particularly loves turning creative ideas into practically-oriented concepts that then become a reality in the real world.

Sarah – Building bridges between knowledge, participation and change

Sarah brings a wealth of experience to the HM:UniverCity team, drawing on her many years as a designer, Professor and researcher. With a background in visual communication and her own studio, she develops participatory formats that encourage people to take joint responsibility for future societal issues.
