Welcome Service
Information on how to become a mentor at the International Office's Welcome Service
The International Office is regularly looking for mentors for the Welcome Service programme to provide support to new exchange students at Hochschule München.
Take the opportunity to get to know students from all over the world and gain intercultural experience!
Any student enrolled at Hochschule München who would like to make international contacts and supervise a group of up to 5 exchange students can become a mentor. You must also be in Munich at the beginning of March or the beginning of September and, if possible, not be undertaking a practical semester during that semester.
Please note: It's not possible for students of Department 10 (HM Business School) to have their participation in the Welcome Service recognised. If you are planning to study abroad, you are required to take part in your own department’s ‘Buddy Service’ for one semester.
For the mentors at Hochschule München, this offers an opportunity to actively use and practise foreign languages, gain intercultural experience and meet new people from other countries.
For anyone planning to spend a semester abroad, this is the ideal opportunity to make contacts in advance or to discuss the exciting prospect of a ‘semester abroad’.
You enjoy taking part in intercultural events and activities with the I-Club ? Then taking part in the Welcome Semester is the perfect idea.
Taking part in the Welcome Service counts towards the University certificate in intercultural competence.

Competences acquired during a semester abroad, as well as during internships or voluntary work abroad or in Germany in an intercultural context, may also be credited towards the practical component. This includes the tutoring service provided by Hochschule München’s Summer School .
