University certificate
Intercultural competence (IC)
As globalisation and migration continue to increase, the importance of intercultural competence is growing in all areas of working life. The Munich University of Applied Sciences addresses this need through its ‘Intercultural Competence’ university certificate programme, which runs alongside the degree course.
This interdisciplinary certificate programme raises awareness of the influence of culture on thought, perception and action, and fosters an understanding of culture as the result of interpersonal and societal negotiation processes. Students acquire application-oriented knowledge of culture-specific characteristics and develop their abilities to reflect on the social and individual challenges posed by migration-related transformation processes. They acquire the skills needed to shape international and intercultural processes in a conscious and responsible manner.
The certificate is aimed at students from all departments at Hochschule München who are interested in issues relating to interculturality and wish to acquire practical skills for intercultural and international work contexts.
