Career historyMatthias Edler-Golla studied product design at the HfG Offenbach. During his studies, he undertook internships lasting several months in England, the USA and Germany. In 1994, he founded the design studio Wachenfeld & Golla together with Regina Wachenfeld; the studio specialises in the design and development of digital products. Clients include companies such as Audi, BMW, Bosch, Continental, Nils Holger Moormann, Opel, Saab, Siemens, Sony and Winterhalter.
Matthias Edler-Golla is occasionally involved with IXDA Munich – and prefers cycling to driving.
In addition to the design and development of websites, the design and creation of graphical user interfaces are key areas of his work. These interfaces are used in fields as diverse as in-car infotainment systems, expert systems in medical technology and embedded systems in the capital goods sector. The focus is on the user, who wants to be able to interact intuitively with these technologies, some of which are entirely new (human-centred design).
Since 1997, Matthias Edler-Golla has been a lecturer at various universities: HfG Offenbach, Free University of Bolzano, Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences, Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, and Hochschule München. In 2011, he was appointed as a permanent lecturer at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (MMA degree programme), followed in 2012 by an appointment at Hochschule München. In addition to teaching ‘Interaction Design’ and ‘Web Design’ on the bachelor's degree programme, he also teaches ‘Ecology & Sustainability’ on the master's degree programme. For university projects, he enjoys collaborating on an interdisciplinary and cross-faculty basis with colleagues and institutions at Hochschule München.
