30 years of successful international cooperation
HM and CEFET-MG celebrate their long-standing partnership and plan further collaboration for the future

Hochschule München (HM) maintains numerous partnerships with universities from all over the world, some of which have been in place for decades. One particularly long-standing partnership is with the Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais (CEFET-MG) in Brazil, which celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in March 2026. Hochschule München was more than delighted to welcome Professor Conrado de Souza Rodrigues, Vice-President of CEFET-MG, to mark this occasion.
Vice-President for Research and Internationalisation, Prof. Dr. Sonja Munz, welcomed Prof. Rodrigues to the Lothstraße campus at the end of April. In addition to a one-to-one meeting, Prof. Rodrigues was also invited to present the partnership’s achievements to date to the Internationalisation Advisory Board and to highlight further opportunities for cooperation. Joint projects with the department of Civil Engineering, which have been running for many years – for example, in the context of field trips, research or final assignments – were mentioned, as were new options for collaboration in other fields.
Prof. Rodrigues also met with representatives from the department of Civil Engineering to discuss ways of strengthening the existing cooperation, and with the Graduate School to discuss joint opportunities in the context of doctorates.
Internationalisation Advisory Board at the HM
The Internationalisation Advisory Board (Beirat Internationalisierung) is a committee that acts as a link between the different departments, the International Office (IO) and the university board. Chaired by the member of the Executive Board responsible for international affairs, the Advisory Board meets twice a semester. Its members include the departments’ internationalisation officers or their deputies, the IO management, the Coordinator for International Relations, and representatives of the student representation (StuVe). At the advisory board meetings, current issues relating to internationalisation are discussed and debated, and best practices are exchanged between the departments.
