Alumni Celebration 2026

The graduation ceremony for students who successfully completed their degrees between March 2025 and March 2026 took place in the presence of relatives, friends and guests from ministries, public authorities and associations. Numerous faculty members also attended and expressed their appreciation for the students’ impressive achievements.

The celebrations were opened by our Pro-Dean, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Joos. The Dean of Studies, Prof. Dr. Jens Czaja, then took the audience on an exciting journey through the past academic year.

A particular highlight was the awards ceremony, at which both outstanding final assignments and social commitment during the course of study were recognised. This year’s award winners are:

The Bavarian Surveying Authority’s award for outstanding Master’s theses was presented to M.Eng. Adrian Jansky and M.Eng. Kilian Sperber. However, the award ceremony, which was to be presided over by Senior Ministerial Councillor Tobias Kunst, had to be postponed due to illness and took place a week later at the State Ministry of Finance and Home Affairs.

The Harbert Book Prize for the best graduates of the year in geodesy, presented by M.Sc. Julia Geiger, Chair of DVW Bayern e.V.:

• M.Eng. Kilian Sperber (top graduate with a master's degree in Geomatics)
• B.Eng. Kerstin Stauder (top graduate in the Bachelor of Applied Geodesy and Geoinformatics programme)

The Bavarian Administration for Rural Development’s award for outstanding work in the field of rural development was presented by Ministerialrat Stephan Wiediger to M.Eng. Jonathan Kraus and B.Eng. Andreas Wagner.

The DLR (German Remote Sensing Data Centre for Geohazards and Civil Security) Young Researchers’ Prize in Remote Sensing, endowed by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Hannes Taubenböck, was presented by Prof. Dr. Andreas Schmitt to M.Eng. Hubertus Vier.

The Student Engagement Award, nominated by the department’s student representation and honoured with a witty laudatory speech by M.Eng. Hubertus Vier, was presented by the Pro-Dean, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Joos, to B.Eng. Moritz Wander.

Following the official send-off, the student representation hosted the traditional champagne reception, offering champagne and other cold drinks, which were gratefully received given the very high temperatures.
