On Tuesday, 20 October 2026, the President of Hochschule München, Professor Sonja Munz, welcomed a delegation from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) for an exchange visit to HM. The delegation was led by Professor Chua Kee Chaing, President of SIT, and also included Professor Lam Khin Yong, Senior Adviser, International Engagements, and Mr Andrew Chia, Senior Manager, Global Experience Division.
The discussions centred on the many similarities between the two universities. It became clear that there were numerous points of convergence regarding their strategic direction, as well as in the areas of teaching and research. Many degree programmes show significant overlap in terms of content, and there are also promising areas of collaboration in various fields of research.
It became particularly clear just how well the SIT’s approach aligns with HM's strategic orientation and adademic profile. As Singapore’s university for applied learning, the Singapore Institute of Technology aims to play a leading role in the field of innovative learning through the close integration of education, business and society. The promotion of practically-oriented teaching, applied research and the development of graduates who make a lasting contribution to society are values shared by both universities.
As a next step, it was agreed to identify and map potential areas of cooperation. In addition, opportunities for student exchanges, participation in Summer Schools and an international immersion programme are to be explored and developed further.
The visit marks an important first step towards further strengthening relations between Hochschule München and the Singapore Institute of Technology, and opens up numerous opportunities for future collaboration in teaching and research.
