Journals, papers, specialist books, lecture notes, digital sources: the mountain of text just keeps growing. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly difficult to filter out the information that really matters. AI tools promise a quick solution through automated summaries, but their use is limited.

Do you lack both the time and the concentration to get through the volume of text? Do you often struggle to plough through the lines, only to be frustrated afterwards that so little has stuck? This seminar shows you how to work through your reading pile more quickly, sharpen your focus on the essentials, and make use of AI assistance where it makes sense. Learn how to create the right conditions for reading, select texts purposefully and work through them in a structured way. Gain a concise insight into successful reading strategies for your doctorate and everyday academic life.

Preparation

To prepare for the online course, please work through the information material and exercises, which will be provided by the lecturer around ten days before the course begins.

For this course, you will need a specialist text (e.g. a specialist article or book) that you have not yet read and which is on your reading list.
