An appointment procedure usually takes at least 14 months.
The first step in an appointment procedure is the formation of an appointments committee, which sets out the requirements for the professorship.
Once the post has been advertised, the appointments committee reviews the applications received and selects the candidates to be invited for a face-to-face interview. These preliminary interviews are intended to facilitate the selection of candidates who will be invited to deliver a trial lecture in the next stage.
Following the trial lecture, the Appointments Committee draws up a recommendation for appointment, ranking the candidates. The recommendation is then approved by the governing bodies of Hochschule München.
Once your application has been received, you will receive confirmation of receipt. You can view the current status of the process on the Appointments Monitor . You will also be informed in writing if the professorship is re-advertised and when the process has been concluded. For further information, please contact the chair of the committee or the applicants’ helpline (089 1265-4845).
- at least 4 professors
- a representative of the research staff members
- a student representative
- the department’s women’s representative
The aim of these interviews is to gain a better professional and personal assessment of the candidates. The preliminary interview is usually conducted in person with the shortlisted candidates. At least two members of the appointments committee take part. For the shortlisted candidates, it serves as an information session and an opportunity to gain an initial insight into the department and the nature of the professorship. It lasts approximately 30–60 minutes.
Your data will be treated confidentially at all times.
For the trial lecture, the invited candidates are each to prepare one compulsory and one optional topic. The topics should be structured as a lecture and not merely presented.
The appointment committee, students and members of the department will attend the trial lecture. It is therefore a closed event.
Application documents are not usually returned.
