Questions and answers about the appointment procedure

  • A completed university degree
  • Teaching aptitude; evidence of this must be provided, for example, by delivering a trial teaching session
  • A particular aptitude for academic work, which is generally demonstrated by the quality of a thesis for a doctorate or by an assessment confirming that the candidate’s achievements are of a standard equivalent to a doctorate
  • Outstanding achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods, demonstrated through at least five years’ professional experience, which must have been acquired after completion of a university degree and of which at least three years must have been spent working outside the academic sector

  • Cover letter
  • A complete CV containing the following details of your educational, academic and professional background (listing employers/self-employment, specifying the exact dates of employment and the scope of duties – full-time or part-time, expressed as a percentage)
  • Employment references
  • For self-employed or freelance work: proof, e.g. in the form of a business registration, a managing director’s contract, confirmation from a tax consultancy firm, etc.
  • For roles as a research associate or research assistant in higher education: employment contracts, any amendment or termination agreements, references and/or letters of appointment
  • Diploma, bachelor's degree and/or Master’s certificates and diplomas
  • Doctorate certificate
  • List of notable academic achievements (e.g. publications, research projects, patents, presentations, competitions)
  • List of previous teaching posts
