Name: Diana Benzinger

Professor of International and Sustainable Human Resource Management at the department of Business Administration.

I’m from Frankfurt am Main! And although I’m very attached to my home town and always will be, I’ve made a habit of packing up my belongings time and again and following exciting job opportunities to places such as Mannheim, Dresden and Berlin. My happiest spell, however, was without a doubt the time I spent as a postdoc in beautiful Vienna.

Previously, I worked as: Assistant Professor and Senior Lecturer (Vienna University of Economics and Business, Technical University of Munich, Technical University of Dresden, Landshut-Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences), as a consultant in HR and strategy (Kienbaum and on a freelance basis), and in marketing and HR (Nestlé and Continental).

My area of expertise in a word ...

... and my motivation for teaching there:

Human resource management. Work must – despite all the constraints, restrictions and competitive challenges that everyday business life (increasingly) brings with it – remain humane and sustainable. This is what drives my teaching and research. If I can inspire young students to embrace this principle, much will already have been achieved.

Why choose HM?

The HM is one of the largest and most research-intensive universities of applied sciences in Germany, and Munich, alongside Berlin, is the city that attracts the most international students. So perhaps the question we should be asking is: Why not the HM? :)

My highlight of the year

My summer holiday in Cyprus and the completion of a new research paper that my colleagues and I have been tinkering with for a long time.

My leisure tip

You really must go to the circus again! In the spring, I visited a small travelling circus in Lower Bavaria with my 7-year-old daughter and my husband. It was very moving to see how, with the most limited resources and the smallest budget, they managed to create wonderful ideas and moments (not just for children). We should make sure we preserve these cultural gems.
