New & Appointed
Name: Simon Vilgertshofer
Professor of: Construction Informatics at the Department of Civil Engineering
I’m from: Munich
Previously, I worked as apostdoctoral researcher at the Technical University of Munich on the chair for Computer-Aided Modelling and Simulation. I have also been working as a freelance consultant specialising in digitalisation in the construction industry for several years.
My area of expertise in a word ...
... and my motivation for teaching there:
Digitalisation – in the construction industry.
In the construction industry, there have been – and continue to be – a wide range of developments relating to digitalisation, which will have a significant impact on and transform professional practice in the coming years. I believe it is extremely important for aspiring engineers to be able to deal skilfully with digitalisation in their day-to-day work and to use new methods and tools effectively. And this is only possible through practice-oriented Teaching.
My highlight of the year
A cross-Alps ride on a road bike.
My leisure tip
Explore the area around Munich by bike. You can usually leave the city and the traffic behind in less than half an hour and enjoy the countryside and, in summer, the pre-Alpine lakes for a swim.
