The ‘MINT4Girls’ project is organised by female students at Hochschule München.
The aim is to spark an interest in STEM degree programmes among schoolgirls.
Activities include school visits, careers information evenings and company excursions.
Our team
Objectives, activities and event day
The “MINT4Girls” project at Hochschule München is passionately committed to encouraging schoolgirls to take an interest in technology and to breaking down existing barriers to STEM subjects – science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We aim to achieve a sustainable increase in the proportion of women in these subject areas, particularly in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science, where women have so far been severely under-represented.
In a world shaped by technological innovation, it is essential that women not only participate but also play an active role in shaping these developments. The industry is showing increasing interest in recruiting female engineers, but faces the problem that there is a shortage of young female talent, particularly in the traditional engineering disciplines. This is where ‘MINT4Girls’ comes in: we specifically target schoolgirls who are about to graduate and aim to inspire them to pursue technical degree courses and careers through a series of inspiring events.
An overview of what we offer:
• Info sessions at schools (Get2Know): We offer in-depth insights into STEM degree programmes, student life, the day-to-day work of female engineers, and specific support services for women in technical professions.
• Company visits (Get2Gether): Schoolgirls have the opportunity to visit companies such as the BMW Group, Roche and Munich Airport to gain a first-hand insight into the working life of a female engineer.
For further information and to register, please add your details to the contact list.
• Taster lectures (Get2HM): To give schoolgirls an insight into studies, we organise a taster lecture once a year at Hochschule München, Lothstraße Campus.
Our last taster lecture took place on 6 June 2024; the next one is scheduled for February 2025 – details to follow.
Anyone interested can register by emailing mint4girls@hm.edu .
Our events are ideal for integration into school career guidance programmes, such as the P-seminar. We are also flexible and are happy to tailor our programme to the specific needs of your school or existing projects.
With ‘MINT4Girls’, we aim not only to inspire girls to take an interest in technology, but also to pave the way for them to play an active role in shaping the world as future engineers, scientists and technology experts.
- Laboratory tours at Hochschule München
- Exchange with students studying STEM subjects
- A visit to a company and an insight into the working life of a female engineer
Our events can be seamlessly integrated into schools’ career guidance programmes (e.g. P-seminar). We would also be happy to tailor our programme to suit your school or any ongoing projects.
