E 504 Laboratory for Biochemistry and Biotechnology

The Laboratory of Biochemistry and Biotechnology is part of Faculty 06 and is

integrated into the Chemistry Unit. It is a biosafety level 1 (S1) laboratory authorized to work with genetically modified organisms. Teaching activities include practical courses in Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry, and Bioprocess Engineering.

In Biochemistry, students acquire fundamental laboratory skills and become familiar with common methods for the analysis of proteins and nucleic acids.

Protein Chemistry covers the purification and characterization of proteins.

Bioprocess Engineering introduces students to the cultivation and processing of microorganisms as well as methods for bioprocess optimization.
