Digitales Studieren Bayern
Digitales-Studieren.Bayern is a joint project run by the Universities of Applied Sciences in Munich and Landshut and is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts as part of the ‘Partnership, University and Region’ competition.
Objectives
- The creation of new, decentralised degree programmes in Lower Bavaria, enabling people to undertake extra-occupational studies, even in regions further away from higher education institutions
- Design of the extra-occupational BA degree programme in ‘Industrial Engineering: Energy and Logistics’
- Establishment of extramural and digital, networked learning environments in Hauzenberg and Straubing
- Development and testing of new teaching approaches and communication channels
- Increased use of e-learning and a wide range of virtual face-to-face seminars
- Supporting lecturers with implementation
Implementation
The new model of studies offers excellent opportunities to develop and test innovative digital study and assessment formats. A framework is being developed for communication between students and lecturers, as well as amongst students themselves, to cater for different teaching situations in digital extramural learning environments. This takes into account the specific pedagogical challenges posed by various settings. The project is based on a concept that effectively integrates high-quality online teaching methods with seminar-style teaching in the learning environments in Hauzenberg and Straubing. In particular, the concept follows the flipped classroom approach: the online phases prepare students for the virtual face-to-face seminars held at weekends and in the evenings.
