The digital self-study modules are designed for all HM students and are designed to help you take your cross-disciplinary skills to the next level. Give them a try and let us know what you think and any suggestions you may have, so that we can develop the self-study modules collaboratively.

The self-study modules are available via Moodle. To access them, first log in with your HM account and use the enrolment key to enrol in the relevant course.

LIVE

Develop techniques for self-motivation and self-organisation, and reflect on your abilities. Learn to set goals and organise your work efficiently. Identify habits that hold you back, and expand your knowledge of media equipment, data protection and mindful media use.

Discover learning style theory, optimise your learning strategies and make use of digital tools. Master the basics of Office and specific digital tools. Improve your information literacy in the self-study areas of ‘Searching & Finding’, ‘Evaluating, Interpreting & Analysing’ and ‘Organising & Managing’. Learn how to find, use and organise academic literature effectively.

Learn how to create media content, design your Personal Learning Environment and make effective use of generative AI, such as ChatGPT. The practical planning and development of media products requires confidence in navigating digital environments. Immerse yourself in the production and presentation of media products – a key aspect of media education. Develop your abilities for a modern media culture!

Take your communication skills to the next level – both online and offline. Avoid misunderstandings, tailor your arguments to your audience, convey clear messages, defend your views, give presentations and network online. Develop your digital identity with purpose, understand the unique dynamics of online communication and become aware of the link between media and sustainability.

DIGITAL WORLD

Get involved in media literacy and media criticism, learn about and understand media systems and landscapes, and find out more about the algorithmic transformation of the public sphere and the impact of the media.
