How can a microscope help improve vaccines?
Tiny lipid spheres, consisting of a fatty shell and used to transport vaccines into the body, move very quickly. A new technique can track these transporters in real time under a microscope. This makes it possible to observe where and how they release, for example, cancer drugs or vaccines. With this knowledge, their effectiveness within the body can be improved.
Professor Thomas Hellerer from the Department of Applied Sciences and Mechatronics at HM is conducting research into this topic.
