Career Center – Cover Letter
Information on the personal statement
The personal statement (optional)
The third page
- This page (max. 1) allows you to further pique the reader’s curiosity: you can use it to highlight either your motivation (e.g. why do you want to move into HR after completing studies in social work? Why are you making an application for a master's degree programme?) and/or your skills (subject-specific or transferable) in more detail. You have additional space here for your cover letter and CV. Here, you can once again clearly highlight why you are the right candidate and demonstrate your professionalism.
- For example, details in the CV that require clarification can also be explained.
- The cover letter should be placed after the CV.
- Not simply a repetition of the cover letter or CV, but a genuine addition.
- Possible titles for the personal statement: Skills and Personality Profile, Personal Statement, What else you should know about me..., About me.
- What matters is the personal relevance of the personal statement.
- Why not let your friends read this too and get their feedback here?
