How do I prepare?
You should prepare thoroughly for your studies, both in terms of content and organisation. Here are some tips to help you prepare.
Pre-placement
Some degree programmes require pre-study work placements. Is yours one of them? If so, here are a few ways to find suitable companies.

First-year courses
We strongly recommend that you attend the first-year events at the start of your studies. There are two types of event:
1. "Fit für den Einstieg"
"Fit für den Einstieg" is the cross-faculty first-year event organised by the Student Advice Centre. There, you will learn everything you need to know about general aspects of organising your studies, such as: how to use the Primuss campus management system, who to contact for specific issues, where to find help, and which student projects you can get involved in. "Fit für den Einstieg" usually takes place in the last week before the start of the semester.
2. Faculty-run first-year courses
Each department organises its own freshers’ event. You can find information about this either on your department’s website or via an email invitation. In almost all cases, the email will be sent to your new university email address. It is therefore very important that you set this up. The departments’ freshers’ events usually take place during the first week of the new semester.
