Testimonials from students and alumni, and publications relating to the ANP
Anna Nosenko
“As an Advanced Practice Nurse, I can always keep up to date with the latest developments in nursing science and incorporate them into nursing practice in collaboration with my colleagues. After all, evidence-based nursing interventions are essential for the further development of the nursing profession. Furthermore, APNs can improve continuity of care, ensuring that patient care does not come to an abrupt end following inpatient treatment. This makes a significant contribution to recovery, particularly in psychiatry. This involves providing care and support for patients beyond their inpatient treatment, for example through well-developed discharge and transition management that takes into account the patients’ social environment or support network. Advanced Practice Nurses can take the lead in developing such care structures as well as counselling services for both patients and their families. In this way, we help to bridge gaps in treatment and, ideally, prevent them from arising in the first place.”
As a psychiatric nurse (B.Sc.) on the crisis ward at the kbo – Isar-Amper-Klinikum Atriumhaus in Munich, Anna Nosenko is currently pursuing a master's degree in Advanced Nursing Practice at Hochschule München.
Theresa Schmoldt
“Through both the bachelor's degree in Nursing and the ANP studies, we as nursing staff expand our skills so that we can offer patients the best possible care. In direct patient care, this means that we can think outside the box and link all the information together. This is aided by the specialist knowledge we acquire during our studies – which we practise time and again – and by passing on this knowledge, whether to colleagues or to the relatives of people with mental health conditions. In this way, we can get everyone on board and develop the best possible care strategies. Care planning also plays a key role here, which Advanced Practice Nurses undertake with a holistic approach. We ensure that all colleagues know what needs to be done and act in accordance with consistent principles.”
Theresa Schmoldt works as a psychiatric nurse (B.Sc.) at the kbo – Isar-Amper-Klinikum Haar, whilst studying for a master's degree in Advanced Nursing Practice at Hochschule München alongside her job.
Hanna Batzoni
“If I were to name just two reasons why I recommend that many people in the nursing profession study the master's degree in Advanced Nursing Practice – ANP for short – they would be these: you build up an incredibly valuable and strong network, and the wide-ranging structure of the programme opens up a vast array of different areas and fields of practice in nursing to graduates. My own practical project during my studies focused on de-escalation management and complemented my training as a de-escalation trainer. Thanks to the knowledge gained from the theoretical part of my studies, I was able to bring new perspectives to my training and, for example, highlight the international dimension of de-escalation management. This not only strengthened me in my work, but above all added significant value to the training programme itself. My academic approach is well received in practice.”
Hanna Batzoni is the first graduate of the master’s degree in Advanced Nursing Practice and works as a nurse at the München Klinik; she is also a certified de-escalation trainer and a research assistant on the project “Health Promotion and Violence Prevention in Care Homes” at the Department of Applied Social Sciences at HM.
Ilja Petkovic
“The content of the Advanced Nursing Practice master's degree programme enables me to establish a link between nursing practice and nursing research. Whilst working as a nurse in a hospital, I have already been able to develop and publish several standards as well as two articles relating to my subject area. I acquired the necessary nursing science skills for this during the ANP master's degree programme, which is why I can recommend this programme to all bachelor’s degree holders in nursing or nursing science.”
As a healthcare and nursing professional, Ilja Petkovic has gained further qualifications by studying for a master's degree in Advanced Nursing Practice alongside his full-time job.
