Common Framework for AI in Teaching
With the new ‘AI Guidelines for Higher Education Teaching’, Bavaria’s Universities of Applied Sciences and Technical Universities are providing specific recommendations for the use of generative artificial intelligence in degree programmes, teaching and examinations. The aim is to integrate AI into everyday university life in a responsible, legally compliant and pedagogically sound manner. Among other things, the guidelines contain practical examples for courses, examinations and self-study. Further key areas include tips on the provision and operation of AI systems, as well as extensive examples of AI policies, use cases and professional development opportunities.
Involvement of Hochschule München
(HM) HM played an active role in the development of the guidelines: The guidelines were commissioned by Hochschule Bayern e.V. with the involvement of the Vice-Presidents for Teaching and the Forschungs- & Innovationslabor Digitale Lehre (FIDL) (research and innovation lab for digital education) within the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Education at HM. A
catalyst for the future of teaching
“A responsible yet innovative approach to artificial intelligence is crucial for the future of all higher education institutions. With the shared understanding that HM has developed together with all Bavarian universities of applied sciences, we are strengthening our path towards becoming an AI-focused university,” emphasises HM’s Vice-President for Innovation and Quality in Education, Prof. Dr Klaus Kreulich. The AI guidelines are available to read on
the Hochschule Bayern e.V. website.
