University Council

In addition to the elected members of the senate , the University Council comprises ten leading figures from the worlds of academia and culture, and in particular from the business sector and professional practice. This unique blend of expertise and experience provides a strong boost to the university’s development.

The members of the Executive Board and the Women’s Representative attend the meetings of the University Council but do not have voting rights. In its function, the University Council can be compared to a supervisory board: among other things, it adopts the university’s constitution and any amendments thereto, as well as the establishment of study programmes. The University Council elects the President and the Vice-Presidents and receives the President’s report. The University Council is consulted before target agreements are concluded with the state and it determines whether the targets defined therein have been achieved.

Election / Term of office

The term of office for external members is four years. They may be reappointed for a total of eight years. External members are nominated by the university management in consultation with the State Ministry, confirmed by the senate and appointed by the Ministry.
