E 402 Laboratory for Organic Synthesis and Qualitative Analysis
Laboratory E 402 (Laboratory for Organic Synthesis and Qualitative Analysis) is a modern, multifunctional laboratory equipped with six fume hoods, making it ideal for preparative work as well. It accommodates up to 16 students, or 8 lab groups of two students, though this capacity can be increased in exceptional cases. This facility is primarily used for the ‘Qualitative Analysis’ and ‘Organic Synthesis’ laboratory courses in the 3rd and 4th semesters of the Chemical Engineering degree programme.
Laboratory equipment
In addition to general laboratory supplies, such as stand fittings, glassware, pH meters, conductivity meters, bench-top centrifuges, etc., the laboratory also houses the following permanently installed equipment and apparatus:
- Rotary evaporator (Heidolph HeiVap Advantage with Rotacool)
- Vacuum pump (Vakuubrand PC600) – chemical-resistant diaphragm pump, adjustable
- Vacuum pump(s): chemical-resistant diaphragm pump (KNF N920), non-adjustable
- Ice cube maker (Bartscher Compact Ice II) for very small quantities
- Ice crusher (Bartscher)
- Analytical balance (Ohaus Voyager) Weighing range up to 62 g, d = 0.1 mg
- Laboratory balance (Kern 440-33N) Weighing range up to 200 g, d = 0.01 g
- Drying oven (Memmert UNB 400) up to 220 °C
- UV lamp (254 nm and 365 nm)
