Distinguished professorship boosts research into fluid mechanics and aerodynamics
“Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anne-Marie Schreyer, an internationally renowned expert in aerospace engineering, is conducting research and teaching as a Bavarian Chair of Excellence at Hochschule München. With her interdisciplinary expertise, her many years of experience and her global network, she is a tremendous asset to the university,” announced Minister for Science Markus Blume today in Munich. “As one of the leading researchers in this forward-looking and high-growth field, she is opening up new horizons in aerospace engineering. This has been made possible by the Distinguished Professors Programme under the ‘Hightech Agenda Bayern’ innovation initiative.”
Up to 3.5 million euros from the High-Tech Agenda for each HaW distinguished professorship
Through the Leading Professors Programme (SPP), which forms part of Hightech Agenda Bayern, the Bavarian Ministry of Science provides research funding at the very highest level. Acceptance into the programme at a state-funded technical university or University of Applied Sciences (HaW) is endowed with a grant of up to 3.5 million euros over a five-year period, in addition to the professorship provided by the institution. This creates excellent conditions for cutting-edge research by recognised leading experts from both Germany and abroad. Since the programme began in 2021, funding totalling around 59 million euros has been approved for distinguished professorships at universities, Universities of Applied Sciences and art colleges.

The appointment of Prof. Schreyer to the Department of Mechanical, Automotive and Aeronautical Engineering enables Hochschule München to maintain and build on its leading academic position. As an aerospace engineer, she can provide interdisciplinary impetus and offer potential for synergistic innovation.
An internationally renowned expert in the fields of fluid mechanics and aerodynamics for aerospace applications, she specialises in the cutting-edge areas of compressible flow phenomena in aerospace applications, in particular flow control and fluid-structure interaction. After completing her diploma in aerospace engineering in 2007 and her doctorate in 2012 at the University of Stuttgart, Prof. Schreyer gained several years’ teaching, research and professional experience in various European countries, as well as undertaking research stays in the USA. Her extensive professional network includes not only universities and research institutions but also industrial partners from the fields of aerospace and flow measurement technology, at both national and international levels. She is also a member of key industry associations such as the American Physical Society and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Prof. Schreyer is also active on various committees and in academic self-governance; she serves as a reviewer for several academic journals and sits on doctoral thesis assessment committees in Sweden, France and Spain.
Prof. Schreyer acquired her practical professional skills, amongst other things, during her time at CNES and through research projects with industrial partners in collaboration with Dantec Dynamics, Rolls-Royce Germany, Airbus, the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) institutes in Göttingen and Braunschweig, and the European Transonic Wind Tunnel in Cologne.
