Escape Rooms and Educational Making
Motivation
Escape rooms and educational making are two methods in social work that complement each other very well. In the seminar, students are introduced to both methods, thereby combining traditional experiential education with modern art education. In particular, the collaborative creation of their own physical objects using both digital and analogue technologies presents a challenge for many students on the one hand, yet offers considerable potential on the other. A particular focus of this seminar series was on the use of generative AI in the development of the objects. This innovative approach opened up new creative possibilities for the students and fostered the acquisition of future-oriented skills.
Effect
"Social work students rarely have the opportunity to create their own analogue or digital artefacts. This project offers a unique opportunity to experience the impact of making on one’s own sense of self-efficacy. The use of tools, including AI, provides students with a practically-oriented learning experience that goes far beyond mere theory."
