Our mission

In line with new and fundamental requirements regarding Quality in Teaching and Innovation in Education, we, as a central support unit, are pursuing the five strategic objectives of the University Development Plan (HEP) in the area of Teaching.

Strategic Objective 1

Viewing students as responsible shapers of the future

Measures 1

We

  • are establishing the FIDL.Hub (formerly NEO.Hub) as a hub for student participation in the further development and co-creation of teaching innovations.
  • offer students the opportunity to contribute to the digitalisation of studies and teaching as student staff members, and link up with the DigitalChangeMaker programme run by the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (HFD).
  • are supporting the Studentisches Green Office (SGO) (a student-led sustainability office) in running the Public Climate School.

Strategic Objective 2

To provide high-quality higher education aligned with major societal trends for both traditional and new target groups

Measures 2

We

  • support the development of profile certificates in line with major societal trends entrepreneurial, international, and intercultural, sustainable and digital.
  • are developing a plan to introduce microcredentials at HM and are helping to develop efficient business processes.
  • develop online self-study modules for students to enhance their digital literacy and self-learning skills.
  • are stepping up our collaboration with industry partners through our interdisciplinary course format, ZukunftGestalten@HM.

Strategic Objective 3

Supporting lecturers in the further development of their roles, profiles and approaches

Measures 3

We

  • support innovation professors and innovation groups in the Teaching sector in developing and implementing their ideas for new teaching and learning environments.
  • organise colloquia designed to foster university-wide collaboration on topics related to the innovation professorships and groups.
  • support the dissemination of the findings of the innovation professorships and groups.
  • Each term, we support up to 20 lecturers through the Teaching Innovation Support Programme and arrange for Student Assistants to provide support with online teaching.
  • support the development of courses at the Virtuelle Hochschule Bayern (vhb) by HM professors.
  • offer training courses.

Strategic Objective 4

Creating an attractive campus with social and digital innovations

Measures 4

We

  • provide support for Moodle, Mahara and digital exams.
  • develop pilot concepts for teaching and learning scenarios on a hybrid campus.
  • develop pilot schemes for competence-oriented digital assessments that can be used as a benchmark.

Strategic Objective 5

Effectively managing and organising teaching as a core process in a quality-assured manner

Measures 5

We

  • are helping to establish key structures as part of the process towards accreditation of quality management systems.
