Can we trust autonomous vehicles on the roads?
Autonomous vehicles detect road users using cameras, lasers and radar in conjunction with artificial intelligence. This enables them to predict the behaviour of cyclists, for example, and navigate complex situations safely. The AI reacts quickly and avoids typical errors such as distraction or fatigue – with the aim of improving road safety.
Professor Fabian Flohr from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is conducting research into this.
