FAQ: Tuition fees for international students

Tuition fees amount to €500.00 per semester for a bachelor degree programme and €700.00 per semester for a master degree programme.

For new enrolments, tuition fees must be paid via the ePayment system when accepting a place at the university (application for enrolment), together with the semester fee and any other fees applicable to the degree programme.

Starting in the summer semester of 2027, students who enrolled for the first time in or after the winter semester of 2026/2027 must pay their tuition fees, along with the semester fee and any other fees associated with their program, via the ePayment system during the official re-registration period.

Persons falling under Section 8(2)(4) to (6) of the University of Applied Sciences Munich’s Tuition Fees Regulations must provide evidence of their eligibility for an exemption. To submit the required documents new students should - after receiving their admission letter - contact the Enrollment Office via email with a brief description of their situation. They will then receive further information. For those falling under the other groups specified in Section 8(2) of the University Fees Regulations of the Hochschule München, no separate application is required. In such cases, the university will automatically apply the exemption.

Students who enrol for the first time from the 2026/2027 winter semester onwards will be able to submit applications via Primuss from the 2027 summer semester onwards.

For new enrolments, the application for an exemption must be submitted within the acceptance period for the place (application for enrolment).

From the 2027 summer semester onwards, students who enrolled for the first time from the 2026/2027 winter semester onwards must submit their application for an exemption within the official re-enrolment period.

The documents that need to be submitted depend on the specific grounds for exemption. In general, the documents submitted must provide sufficient evidence of the grounds for exemption. You can obtain more detailed information when you enrol for the first time after receiving your admission letter by contacting the Enrolment Office (see the section ‘How to apply for an exemption’).

Students who enrol for the first time from the 2026/2027 winter semester onwards will receive further information via Primuss during the official re-registration period from the 2027 summer semester onwards.

For newly enrolled students, a dedicated upload field will be activated on the application portal once the application has been submitted via email. For students newly enrolled from the 2026/2027 winter semester onwards, it will be possible to perform document submissions via Primuss from the 2027 summer semester onwards

The application will be processed as soon as possible after it is received.

It is not possible to provide definitive information as to whether an exemption applies or not prior to submitting an application. Information on whether an exemption applies in principle can be found in Section 8(2) of the University of Applied Sciences Munich’s Tuition Fees Regulations. All exemptions are listed there in full.

Whether proof of the exceptional circumstances must be provided again each semester depends on the nature of the circumstances. Information on this will be provided in the approval notice.

Tuition fees remain the same for the entire duration of the studies. Should you switch degree programmes within Hochschule München, the tuition fees applicable at that time will apply.

Students who are already studying at Hochschule München, do not currently pay tuition fees, and change their degree programme from the 2026/2027 winter semester onwards will be required to pay tuition fees from the 2026/2027 winter semester onwards.

No tuition fees will be charged for the duration of a leave of absence.

If a student is enrolled at two different universities and both institutions charge tuition fees, the student is required to pay tuition, and the tuition must be paid to each institution separately.
