Curtain up for science

Does science only happen in an ivory tower? As a University of Applied Sciences, we won’t stand for that! After all, science can inspire, captivate and bring about change. That is why, since 2018, Hochschule München has been organising one Science Slam per semester. The so-called ‘Applied Science Slam’ is hosted by Prof. Dr. Georg Eggers, known, amongst other things, for his stage show ‘The Physics of Failure’.

What is a science slam?

At science slams, scientists take their research to the stage. Anything that’s fun goes: presentations, props or live experiments. Each participant has ten minutes. The audience’s applause ultimately decides the final rankings.

The Applied Science Slam relies on passionate scientists! Anyone who would like to present their own research or an interesting topic from their respective subject area is welcome to submit an application at any time by email (including a brief description of the planned talk).

The next event will take place in November 2026, the date will be announced here on the website. We are already looking forward to receiving submissions for our 14th Applied Science Slam.
