As soon as we have received all the documents listed above, we will be happy to start processing your contract as a Student Assistant and/or tutor.
Once the contract has been drawn up, it will be sent by post to the address given on your personnel form. Once we have received a copy signed by you, we will send a copy of the contract to the department or department of staff where you will be employed. It is essential that the employment contract is received by the SHK/TUT human resources management department no later than the day you start work.
A copy of the contract is for your records.
Please note: You must not commence work until the contract has been signed! If you commence work in advance nonetheless, this will be on a voluntary basis without remuneration, and you will not be in an employment relationship with Hochschule München or the Free State of Bavaria.
You will be paid a flat rate based on the number of hours per week agreed in the contract.
You can find the pay rates for Student Assistants and tutors in the overview provided. If you have worked fewer hours, please inform the human resources management department for Student Assistants and tutors.
Notes:
- If you are covered by a family insurance policy or receive BAföG, you are currently not permitted to earn more than €520.00 per month. Please refer to the green column in the remuneration table for this. Please check the current maximum rates if necessary.
- By decision of the Ministry of Finance, the flat-rate taxation system is generally not applied in the public sector. Taxation must therefore, in principle, be carried out in accordance with the individual payroll tax deduction criteria.
Student Assistants or Tutors must keep a record of the hours they have worked. Please ensure that the agreed number of hours is worked. If you work more or fewer hours than contractually agreed, please inform the human resources management department for Student Assistants/Tutors so that the contract can be amended if necessary.
The weekly records are then retained by the supervisor or line manager, who, at the end of the contract period, forwards them to the human resources management department at SHK/TUT for safekeeping, either by email or via internal post.
Please note: Under ‘Department’, you should always enter the department or faculty where you are employed, not the department or faculty in which you are studying.
Any additional employment must be listed under point 4 of the form for determining insurance liability or exemption for staff, so that the State Office for Finance (LfF) can process the payments correctly. Any changes must be notified to the Student Assistant/TUT human resources management by email at any time. The form is included in the recruitment documents for new appointments or when an employee returns to work.
Please note: Students must not exceed a maximum of 20 hours per week in order to retain their student status. If they exceed 20 hours per week, they are deemed to be fully liable for social security contributions.
Holiday entitlement depends on both the contractually agreed number of hours per week and the contractually agreed term. Please note that entitlement applies only to full months.
You can calculate your individual holiday entitlement using this overview.
The following options are available for the early termination of an employment contract:
Notice of termination: In accordance with Section 5(1) of the employment contract, you are required to give one month’s notice, effective at the end of a calendar month. The notice of termination must be in writing – the original must be sent by post – and the date stamp from the human resources management department for Student Assistants/TUT or the department/department shall be deemed the date of receipt of the notice for the purposes of calculating the notice period. If a notice of termination is sent directly to the department or department of student assistants, it must be forwarded immediately, bearing the date stamp, to the human resources management department for SHK/TUT for further processing. Upon receipt of the notice of termination, the human resources management department for SHK/TUT will confirm receipt by email.
Termination agreement: This requires the consent of both yourself and your Supervisor. These may be submitted by email. Termination agreements can only be concluded with effect from the future. Once the termination agreement has been drawn up, it will be sent by post to the address on file with us.
Please note: Please bear in mind that, upon termination of your employment, you must not have any positive or negative hours outstanding and must have taken all your annual leave entitlement.
Reference letters are issued – on request – by the supervisor.
