Gender & Diversity
Equality is not necessarily reflected in a balanced gender ratio across all departments and at all levels of the hierarchy. Ultimately, what matters is how equality is put into practice on a day-to-day basis.
With this aim in mind, HM regularly analyses the current situation and takes appropriate measures. These measures are therefore not only aimed at disadvantaged groups, but also influence organisational structures and processes, as well as the transfer and generation of knowledge. All of this helps to dismantle the gender hierarchy.

Responsibilities of the university women’s representative:
The responsibilities of the Equal Opportunities Officers for Women in Academia are set out in the Higher Education Innovation Act (Section 22 HIG). They work to ensure that female researchers, female teaching staff and students are not disadvantaged; they are not bound by instructions; and they support higher education institutions in effectively ensuring equality between women and men.
The university regards equality as a guiding principle and works towards eliminating existing disadvantages. The university management involves the Equality Officer in matters concerning him or her and provides regular opportunities for him or her to raise concerns.

- The equal participation of women and men on committees.
The women’s representatives at Bavaria’s universities of applied sciences coordinate their activities at regional level. Within the Regional Conference of Women’s and Equality Representatives at Bavarian Higher Education Institutions(LaKoF Bayern), they work together with women’s representatives from all types of higher education institutions in Bavaria.

Nationwide, all women’s and equality officers are networked through the Federal Conference of Women’s and Equality Officers at Higher Education Institutions (BuKoF). Within the BuKoF, members work together to fulfil their responsibilities in the field of the advancement of women and equality at higher education institutions.
