Three questions for “People With An Agenda”
"I am confident that inner growth and maturity will lead to external social change."
HTA Innovation Professor Ralph Buchner
Prof. Ralph Buchner
What kind of innovation in Education are you developing, and what motivates you to do so?
Ralph Buchner: Transformative teaching means mindful personal development that helps students become more mature individuals, who can then play an active role in shaping the great ecological, social and technological Transformation. To achieve this, they draw not only on their rational minds but also on higher forms of thinking such as intuition, imagination, inspiration and heart intelligence. As an example of a transformative skill for the future, I teach the U-Process, a design method that enables people to tap into the deeper sources of their creativity. I also teach students how to develop an inner compass. My motivation is the vision that we can turn the planet into a paradise if we rediscover the wholeness of the Earth and of life.
In what way does your innovation help students to become responsible designers of the future?
Ralph Buchner: I believe that inner growth and maturity lead to external social change.
How can other lecturers benefit from this innovation?
Ralph Buchner: I am planning to develop training tutorials with teaching materials for multipliers, a certificate course on holistic personal development, and a book on methods of transformative creativity. Through numerous discussions with lecturers, guest lectures and participation in interdisciplinary courses, I am already introducing transformative teaching to other departments.
