Shaping the Future@HM
Inter-faculty course at the HM
THINKING, DISCUSSING, SHAPING
: ZukunftGestalten@HM involves independently researching, resolving and publicly presenting scientifically and socially relevant questions about the future. Working in interdisciplinary teams, students at Hochschule München collaborate with external stakeholders to promote sustainable development and shaping of the future.
The aim of ZukunftGestalten@HM is to complement, harmonise and link the expertise on ‘sustainability’ as typically pursued across the various departments of Hochschule München, in line with the principles of Bildung für Nachhaltige Entwicklung (BNE) (Education for Sustainable Development).
Information about the module
The aim of this module is to enable students to independently tackle, resolve and publicly present real-world, practice-oriented problems in the field of ‘sustainable (social) development’. In particular, the module focuses on fostering interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial skills. Holistic thinking, an awareness of consequences, reflective skills and problem-solving skills in interdisciplinary team settings are combined with responsible and entrepreneurial thinking and action. The interdisciplinary project work is designed to enable students to apply the subject-specific knowledge gained from their degree programme to the project work in the best possible way. Where challenges outside their field of study arise, it is the teams’ task to familiarise themselves quickly and efficiently with new subject matter.
Using the Design Thinking process, you will be guided methodically throughout the semester. Week by week, you will receive methodological guidance for your project work as well as coaching from lecturers from various disciplines. The project focuses on methods of self-directed learning and is structured around specific ‘deliverables’, such as the preparation of a project proposal, a press article, an interim presentation and a final presentation. Assessments required to pass the course: Written project proposal ‘Press Release’ (= completion of the problem analysis) Final presentation with project completion documentation
