IMPROVE – Immersive nursing simulation training using VR to optimise emergency care
Motivation
The educational rationale behind this teaching innovation is to provide Bachelor’s students in applied nursing science with the best possible preparation for nursing practice through immersive learning. VR-based emergency training enables students to experience authentic emergency situations in a pedagogically sound and safe manner, with immediate feedback and numerous repetitions. This boosts confidence in taking action, reduces anxiety and improves patient safety in the long term.
Effect
"Personally, I have learnt to improve my problem-solving skills."
“The greatest benefit was this combination of theory linked to practically-oriented learning.”
"Learning new software and modelling interactive scenarios step by step takes a lot of patience!"
“I’ve gained greater confidence in my day-to-day care work.”
“VR bridges the gap between theory and practice.”
