After studies – Back to Hochschule München

Whether it is a desire to ‘learn’ or a wish to advance your career, there are many reasons that spur people on to pursue further education. Hochschule München supports you in this and offers an attractive range of further education programmes. It is up to you to decide what you want to do. You can study extra-occupationally or focus on obtaining specific certificates with us.

Have you already completed your studies at Hochschule München and would now like to study with us again? But would you like to submit an application for another bachelor's degree programme? It is possible to undertake a second degree with us. When submitting an application for a bachelor's degree programme with restricted admission, you will be allocated a place under a special quota. The special quota amounts to 4 per cent of the places available on the relevant degree programme.

The application process for a second degree is similar to that for a first degree. For further information, see ‘Applying for a Bachelor’s degree ’.

However, you must also enclose the following documents with your application for a second degree:

• A copy of your higher education entrance qualification (as you are an alumnus, certification is not required)
• A copy of your degree certificate from your first degree (as you are an alumnus, certification is not required)
• An informal, detailed written explanation of your reasons for wishing to undertake a second degree, including details of your previous education, your professional experience and your career aspirations.

The selection of applicants for a second degree is based on the criteria ‘exam results from their first degree’ and ‘reasons for pursuing a second degree’. Points are awarded for both criteria. These points are added together to form a composite score. When it comes to admission, applicants with a higher composite score are given priority over those with a lower score.

Graduates of Hochschule München are by no means barred from pursuing a doctorate. Although, as a University of Applied Sciences, Hochschule München does not currently have its own right to award doctorates, it is possible to write a dissertation through a cooperative doctorate programme. Many students are already making successful use of this opportunity.
