Health and wellbeing
Exercise and relaxing are important factors for physical and mental health. We have collected a few ideas for you.
Zentraler Hochschulsport (ZHS) offers a wide range of sports and group courses.
A selection of relaxation and wellbeing activities:
- Zentraler Hochschulsport (e.g. moving meditation, mindfulness training, yoga)
- Protestant and Catholic student group EKHG
- Catholic student group PAOSO (Pasing)
- Studierendenwerk - courses on health & coaching
- Stress management workshop at the HM Learning Centre
- Room of silence at HM
- Mensa (Canteen) and Stucafé (Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern)
- Cooking together at Protestant and Catholic student group
- The Café at catholic student group PAOSO (Pasing)
- Eat and drink well – recommendations by the German Nutrition Society (DGE)
Online forum: Each semester, at least one online forum is offered focusing on input and exchange of experiences on topics such as :
- Mental well-being
- Strategies for coping with stress etc
- Contact points at your place of study
Invitations will be sent via email to all students and can be found in the HM app. Participation is, of course, anonymous and free of charge. (In German)
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) first aid course for students:
HM students have the opportunity to train as MHFA first aiders as part of a voluntary General studies course. Participating students learn to recognise mental health problems in family members, friends or fellow students, to approach these individuals and offer initial support until they receive professional help or the crisis subsides. (In German)

MHFA Peer Coaching
MHFA Peer Coaching supports students who are going through a difficult time or simply need someone to talk to. In a safe and confidential setting, peer coaches trained as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) first aiders are available as a first point of contact
Student and mental health first aider on Bavarian TV
Felix Kerner is a student at Hochschule München’s Department of Mechanical, Automotive and Aeronautical Engineering. He is featured in the Bavaria Broadcasting (Bayerischer Rundfunk) programme ‘mehr/wert’ speaking about his mental illness as well as his personal journey. Since mid-January, he has been working as a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) i.e. a first responder for students. Together with psychology professor and MHFA instructor Simone Kaminski and a fellow student, he is currently establishing a MHFA network for HM students. Their aim is to offer low-threshold support and to raise long term awareness for mental health in everyday university life.

About us
studyFIT is a group of staff members from various HM Departments as well as student advisory services. What unites us is the wish to increase the visibility of services at Hochschule München relating to health, well-being and effective learning, as well as creating new opportunities. Our mission is to provide students with the best possible support on their journey to academic success.
We work closely with the IG Peer innovation group, which coordinates and develops support services from students for students.
